About

old git smallVideos, comments, and opinions by me, Chris Gosling, who quit the cut and thrust of commercial employment when 53, and went sailing for a year!

Since then, I’ve had a good time – I enjoyed the sailing year, spent the following summer traveling, and the next spring and early summer on the English canals.

Arriving back in my home territory without much to do, I started a local online video news experiment – http://www.felixstowetv.co.uk – in 2004, and ran it for a couple of years. I sold it to a couple of people who continued to run it as an active and interesting local news channel, but sadly they closed it. It is still operating in a subdued and rather aimless kind of way . .

I moved on to making TV programmes in 2006, and over the next 5 or 6 years managed to make around 107 half-hour shows titled The Caravan Channel. around 30 under the title UK Boating, and another 30 on other topics. It made for an interesting, busy and entertaining period, and earned enough to just about keep me going!

In 2010, I discovered I had prostate cancer, and by 2011, as I came up to the op, I’d more or less disposed of my programmes; I made just 2 UK Boating shows during the year, and the new owners took over. The Caravan Channel is still thriving and busy, but UK Boating seems to be a bit more difficult to produce, and I’m not convinced it’ll survive as well as The Caravan Channel.

Since then, I’ve eased back quite a bit, but I still do some things that interest me. I make videos for all of these:

Campervan Diary: http://www.campervandiary.co.uk

Shipping TV: http://www.shippingtv.co.uk

More or less finished channel experiments: http://www.felixstowenews.tv and http://www.retiredlife.tv

But I still find some aspects of life, the world, and politics worth commenting on . . so here’s the blog!
